Daniel Araujo

I am a PhD candidate at the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia and a fellow at the Stone Centre on Wealth and Income Inequality.

My research interests are development economics, economic history, and applied microeconomics. Much of my work studies the economics of modern slavery, combining administrative data from Brazil with quasi-experimental designs. My job market paper examines how technological change in agriculture affects modern slavery in local labor markets.

I am on the 2026–27 academic job market.
